McLean Community Players to Get ‘Footloose’ in July

The McLean Community Players are putting on a production of “Footloose,” which premiers on Friday, July 8 and runs on weekends at The Alden, located at 1234 Ingleside Ave., McLean, through Saturday, July 24. Based on the hit movie musical of the same name, “Footloose” was adapted for the stage by Dean Pitchford and Walter Bobbie and features a Tony-nominated score by Tom Snow with lyrics by Pitchford.

“‘Footloose’ is an exciting show that makes some of us hearken back to the 1980s. I wanted to direct and choreograph “Footloose” because it is just so much fun to work on,” said Shaun Moe, the director of the McLean Community Players’ production of the show. “It has the traditional conventions of American teenage rebellion, young love, comic relief and high-energy songs and dances. It’s the sort of show that leaves you singing as you head to the exits.”

Performances will be presented on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. during the run of the show. Tickets for the show cost $23 – $25. For more information, visit mcleanplayers.org.
