UDPATE: The 53-year-old man who was fatally struck on Saturday, June 4 has been identified as Gerber Mauricio Claros. According to the Fairfax County Police Department, the events leading up to the crash are still under investigation.
A 53-year-old man was fatally struck by a pickup truck while he was crossing Graham Road near Arlington Boulevard in Falls Church in the evening of Saturday, June 4, according to a report from the Fairfax County Police Department.
Police said that at around 10:18 two men were crossing in the crosswalk on Graham Road when a 2006 Ford F250 was traveling southbound on Graham and struck one of the men. The man was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the pickup, a 46-year-old man, remained on scene at the crash location. Crash Reconstruction detectives responded to investigate. Police said that neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors with regard to the driver.
According to police, the identity of the man who was killed will be disclosed upon next of kin notification. The investigation continues to determine whether charges are appropriate.
