Falls Church Apartment Fire Causes $10,000 in Damage

A fire in the Skyline Towers Apartments, located at 5597 Seminary Road, Falls Church, in the afternoon of Sunday, May 15 caused approximately $10,000 worth of damage, the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department reported in a recent press release.

Firefighting units responded to the fire at approximately 1:57 p.m. on May 15 and encountered smoke coming from a mid-level apartment. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire and there were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported.

The home had working smoke alarms, but the fire was discovered by a tenant of the building prior to the smoke alarms activating. One adult was displaced because of the blaze. According to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department fire investigators, the fire was accidental. The department said that the cause of the fire was improperly discarded smoking materials.
