F.C. Students Win Awards at Va. State Science Fair

Students from George C. Marshall High School won awards at the 31st annual Virginia State Science and Engineering Fair, which was held on Saturday, April 9 at Virginia Military Institute.

Arman Khan and Joseph Welsh won the third place prize in the Engineering: Materials and Bioengineering category for their project, “The Foundation of the Future: The Effect of Varying Sand Concentrations in Mortar on the Water Absorption & Strength of Mortar Slabs.”

Katherine DeLong won the Stockholm Jr. Water Prize from the Virginia Dental Association Awards for her project “The Effect of Varying Nitrate Concentrations on the Absorptive Capacity of Sodium Polyacrylate.” For more information and a full list of winners, visit vmi.edu/Conferences/VSSEF.
