The Alden Gives Scholarships To 6 Young Performing Artists

The Alden in McLean awarded scholarships to six local high school students for successfully competing in the 2016 James C. Macdonald Performing Arts Scholarship Competition.

Following a preliminary audition and a final completion at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, the prizes were presented by McLean Community Center governing board chair Paul Kohlenberger and The Alden’s director of youth programs Kathleen Herr.

In the instrumental music category, Eric Lin, a sophomore at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science & Technology, won first place. Lauren Cain, a freshman at Langley High School, won second place and Xiyou Wang, a senior at McLean High School, won third place.

Josh Delgado, a senior at McLean High School, won first place in the vocal music category. Jamie Goodson, a junior at Langley High School, won second place and Nicole Sheehan, a senior at McLean High School, won third place. For more information, call 703-790-0123.
