Falls Church resident Michael Burgos won the Best Comedy award at the 2016 Adelaide Fringe Festival in Adelaide, Australia, the festival announced on Sunday, March 13. Burgos won for his one-man show “The Eulogy,” which was written, directed and performed by him.

With more than 1150 acts, the Adelaide Fringe Festival is the largest arts festival in the southern hemisphere and the 2nd largest Fringe festival in the world — only the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is larger. Prominent Edinburgh producers have met with Burgos to discuss bringing his show to this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

During the 2015 Capital Fringe Festival in Washington, D.C., Burgos’ “The Eulogy” had a sold-out run, garnered rave reviews and honors and was one of 13 acts selected to be extended in the festival’s first-ever extension week. He was also featured in the Falls Church News-Press during that run of the show. For more information, visit theeulogyplay.com.
