F.C. Mayor Endorses ‘Earth Hour’ This Saturday

A proclamation issued and signed at Monday’s F.C. City Council meeting by Mayor David Tarter designated this Saturday, March 19, between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. as “Earth Hour” in the city, urging all citizens, businesses, organizations and government agencies to turn off all non-essential lighting for one hour, and to commit to actions they can take in the coming year to reduce their carbon footprints and conserve energy.

“Climate change and the need to take action to mitigate it are recognized as a global priority and our vision of environmental harmony in the City of Falls Church is supported by our long-standing commitment to an environmentally-sustainable future,” the proclamation read. The ‘Earth Hour’ event is organized by the World Wildlife Fund.
