Teen Police Academy to Be Hosted at F.C. High School

The Fairfax County Police Department, organized by the department’s Citizens Police Academy, is hosting the Teen Police Academy from July 18 – 23 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on July 18 – 22 and 9 a.m. – noon on July 23 at Falls Church High School, located at 7521 Jaguar Trail, Falls Church. The program is free and is open to boys and girls in high school who are enrolled in criminal justice classes.

Participants will learn about patrol, SWAT, crime scene investigations, use of force, careers in law enforcement, police vehicles, public safety communications and more. Class size is limited to 25 participants and participants are expected to provide their own transportation and lunches. The application deadline for the program is Friday, May 13. The police department is also hosting the Future Women in Law Enforcement Program, which is open to high school girls in 10 – 12 grade in the Northern Virginia area. That program is being held at Falls Church Public Schools Gatehouse Administration Building, located at 8115 Gatehouse Road, Falls Church from August 1 – 6 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

This program features a dedicated group of women in law enforcement sharing their experiences and conducting practical scenarios and demonstrations. The class size for this program is limited to 40 participants and the application deadline is also Friday, May 13.
