DMV Move to Barcroft Plans Canceled

The proposed re-location of the Four Mile Run Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles customer service center to Barcroft Plaza in Falls Church has been canceled. The DMV announced this week it has negotiated a reduced rate to remain at its current 4150 S. Four Mile Run location in South Arlington for another 10 years.

Virginia entered into a 10-year lease with Federal Realty for the Barcroft Plaza center last October but after a variety of concerns raised from local residents and lawmakers including State Del. Kaye Kory and Del. Alfonso Lopez and Senators Dick Saslaw and Dave Marsden, the company approached the DMV about the possiblity of mutually terminating the lease. Kory credited citizen emails, phone calls, petitions, and attendance at the forum to discuss this location with forcing the cancellation.
