F.C.’s Earman Appointed Fairfax District Court Judge

Susan Friedlander Earman, who served on the City of Falls Church Planning Commission from 1993 to 1998 and on its Board of Zoning Appeals from 1999 to 2009, has been appointed a Fairfax County General District Court judge, according to State Del. Marcus Simon this week. Earman was selected by a panel of state legislators who represent Fairfax County on Dec. 16 following a series of interviews with that board. Since 2012 Earman has served as a substitute judge for the court. The appointment is subject to a final approval by the Virginia General Assembly.

In total, the Fairfax County and Arlington Delegations to the General Assembly nominated three women and three men to be new judges. For the Fairfax Circuit Court, Thomas P. Mann and Richard E. Gardiner were nominated. For the Fairfax County General District Court, Michael H. Cantrell, Susan F. Stoney and Earman were nominated. For the Arlington County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court Robin Robb got the delegation’s endorsement. Twenty-nine candidates were interviewed for the three courts, according to Del. Simon.
