F.C. Vets Day Ceremony Set for Nov. 11

A special Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at the Falls Church City Veterans Memorial in front of the Community Center, 223 Little Falls St., on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m.

The program will include remarks from Falls Church resident and keynote speaker, retired Army Col. Dr. Sue Myers, who is the widow of Major General Harold Green, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2014. Major General Harold Green is the highest-ranking service member killed on foreign soil during a war since 1972. He is also the highest ranking American officer to be killed in combat in the Global War on Terrorism.

Presided over by Master of Ceremonies Harry Shovlin, the event will feature remarks and remembrances, a tribute for those missing in action, a wreath presentation and prayer for departed veterans, and performances by the Falls Church City Concert Band.
