Local Children’s Center Holds 3rd Annual Teddy Bear Run

A free teddy bear will be awarded to all runners and walkers who cross the finish line at the Falls Church-McLean Children’s Center’s Third Annual Teddy Bear 5K & 1K Walk/Run on Sunday, Sept. 27. The event, organized to benefit the Falls Church-McLean Children’s Center, starts with a free fair at 2 p.m. and continues with the run/walk at 4 p.m.

It will be held at a new venue this year – Lemon Road Elementary School, located at 7320 Idylwood Road, Falls Church which is home to the Children’s Center day-to-day operation. The fair will include activities like soccer clinics, puppet shows, balloon artists, face painters, exhibits and a performance by the singing pediatrician Dr. Chris Ko.

Starting at 4 p.m., the 1K course will take runners on a shaded path at the foot of the school playground field. The 5K course will start at Pimmit Hill Park neighborhood to Olney Park. In the case of rain, the fair will be held inside the school’s gymnasium, but races will be held outside rain or shine.
