The City of Falls Church has announced it will celebrate Car Free Day next Tuesday, September 22 and encourage residents and commuters to show support for reduced traffic and cleaner air. Care Free Day Falls Church is part of a worldwide event organized by the Commuter Connections regional transportation network coordinated by Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments.
Nicholas Ramfos, director of the network, says he hopes commuters will make a positive impact by using transit, sharing the ride, bicycling, walking, or working from home instead of driving alone. Information on travel options and ridematching for commuters and travelers is available at www.carfreemetrodc.org.
Participants can make carpooling plans and learn about other transportation opportunities to decrease the number of single-occupant vehicles on the road.
