Bob Simpson Wins Lizzie Borden Axe Throwing Tournament

Falls Church’s American Legion Post 130 held its second Lizzie Borden Axe Throwing Tournament of the year on Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Post’s clubhouse at 400 N. Oak Street. The Commander of Post 130 Bob Simpson won first place in the event and was awarded a gold medallion and the battleaxe award.

Rick Franklin of Falls Church came in second place and was awarded the silver medallion and Randy Krape, from American Legion Post 180 in Vienna, came in third place and was awarded the bronze medallion.

Leslie Dobson, the Fish Lady, was on hand again to sell participants and guests grilled food, snacks and sodas. American Legion Post 130 hosted another axe throwing tournament on Aug. 1, which was by Charles Mooney of Springfield. For more information, visit post130.org.
