McLean Players Gears Up to Premiere ‘Calendar Girls’

The McLean Community Players’ production of Tim Firth’s Calendar Girls will premiere Friday, September 18 at the Alden Theater. Bob Sams, the director will lead his award-winning cast and crew as they produce this adaptation of one of the most popular British plays in history. The McLean Community Center production of Firth’s play is the area premiere of the show.

The piece focuses on two characters, Chris and Annie, members of the local Women’s Institute in Yorkshire. In order to fund a new sofa in a hospital waiting room, they contract local friends and members of the institute for a calendar. They aim to sell the calendar, filled with nude and alternative shots of women in the community.

“Calendar Girls” runs weekends, Sept. 18 – Oct. 3, at the Alden Theatre, located at 1234 Ingleside Ave., McLean. Tickets are $18 – $20, and group rates are available.
