Ocho de Bastos Slated for Concerts in the Park Series

Locally-based Latin pop group Ocho de Bastos, which translates to Eight of Clubs, are the next group slated to play at the Falls Church Concerts in the Park series, sponsored by the City’s Recreation and Parks Department and the Village Preservation and Improvement Society, next Thursday at 7 p.m. at Cherry Hill Park at 312 Park Avenue.

The group, which formed out of a need for more live Hispanic music performances, had its first commercial performance in February 2009 in a small restaurant in Bethesda. Since then, they’ve performed around the world, including in Puerto Rico, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

Next Thursday, bluegrass duo Mama Tried featuring Randy Barrett and Dede Wyland will perform at Cherry Hill Park and the roots music group the Andrew Acosta Band are slated to close out the series’ July schedule on Thursday, July 30. In the event of rain, the concerts will be held in the Falls Church Community Center at 223 Little Falls Street. For more information, visit fallschurchva.gov/ConcertsinthePark.
