BRIAN CANNON, executive director of One Virginia 2021, an organization dedicated to “fair redistricting” of Congressional and state legislative boundaries in Virginia, spoke at a forum hosted by the Falls Church chapter of the League of Women Voters (LWV) at the Falls Church Community Center last Sunday. He used the projected image of Gollum from “The Lord of the Rings” to illustrate why elected legislators are unwilling to allow their districts to be redrawn. Cannon’s group, and the LWV favor an impartial process for redrawing the lines after every U.S. decade-ending census.
