Pedestrian Just Released from Inova Fairfax Struck on Gallows Road

A 46-year-old man from Fairfax County who had just been released from Inova Fairfax Hospital was struck as he crossed Gallows Road yesterday around 7 p.m., according to the Fairfax County Police Department. The man was crossing the road in front of the hospital’s emergency room when he walked into the path of a Toyota Sienna van being driven by a 35-year-old Annandale woman.

The man suffered severe, life-threatening injuries in the crash and was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital. The driver of the van, her husband and four children, who were also in the van, required no medical treatment.

Fairfax County’s Crash Reconstruction Unit detectives are investigating the crash, but have already determined that neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors on the part of the driver.
