Falls Church HS Grad Named NCAC Newcomer of the Year

Emily Grabauskas, a freshman on Denison University’s cross-country team and 2014 graduate of Falls Church High School, was named the North Coast Athletic Conference’s Newcomer of the Year on Monday.

She also earned second-team All-NCAC honors after finishing 11th at the 2014 North Coast Athletic Conference Cross-Country Championship last month.

Grabauskas became the second Denison runner in conference history to earn newcomer of the year honors after covering the 6K course in 24:24.6. Two weeks later, Grabauskas finished 36th out of 246 runners with a time of 22:40.4 at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in Mason, Ohio.

As a team, Denison placed fifth at the NCAC Championship with 121 points and finished 13th as a team two weeks later at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional.
