Training Rescue Dogs Holds Inaugural 5K Fundraiser

The Alexandria-based non-profit Training Rescue Dogs is partnering with Falls Church’s Road Runner Sports to host their inaugural 5K to raise funds to rescue, train, rehabilitate and re-home otherwise unadoptable dogs through this event.

Event check-in for the fundraiser will be held at Road Runner Sports, located at 1120 W. Broad Street, at 8 a.m. on Dec. 7, with the 5K race starting at 9 a.m. Race participants can bring their dogs along for the event.

“Many wonderful dogs who are searching for their ‘forever family’ never find one because they display undesirable, but easily corrected, behavioral challenges,” said Alicemary Leach, president of Training Rescue Dogs.

Leach said that Training Rescue Dogs steps in to help these dogs overcome their behavioral challenges and find an adoptive family.
