Local Veterans Honored at Veterans Picnic

Local veterans and community leaders were recognized last Sunday, Oct. 12, for their efforts on behalf of American soldiers and war veterans at the fourth annual veteran’s picnic at Cherry Hill Park. Food and refreshments were provided by Bentley’s Restaurant.

Local South Vietnamese soldiers and their families were welcomed and honored. Richard Corder, commander of the local post 9274 of Veterans of Foreign Wars, was named Veteran of the Year.

Ann Mills-Griffiths of the National League of POW/MIA Families was named Veterans’ Best Friend. Richard Anton of American Legion Post 130 received the Lifetime Achievement Award and Bentley’s Restaurant was named Veteran’s Best Business Friend.
