Candidate Forum at Legion Hall Thursday Night

The Community Issues Forum, composed of 13 Falls Church civic, political and issue-related groups, will hold a candidates’ forum tomorrow night, Thursday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. at the American Legion hall, 400 N. Oak Street. All candidates and issues on the ballot next month in Falls Church City have been invited.

The sponsoring groups are Citizens for a Better City, Citizens for a Sustainable City, both the Falls Church Democratic and Republican Committees, and the American Legion. The forum will be chaired by Dennis Szymanski of the Greater Hillwood Citizens Association and moderated by Carol Loftur-Thur of Citizens for a Sustainable City. Sally Ekfelt of Citizens for a Better City chaired the organizing group. Candidates will be able to meet personally with voters before and after the event at tables designated for each candidate. In addition, a table will be set up for the schools referendum, which is also on the ballot in November.

Beginning at 7:30 p.m., each candidate (and a referendum spokesperson) will have five minutes to make a statement and then the floor will be open for questions from the audience. At 9 p.m. the candidates will again meet voters at their designated tables.
