Felix Francis, author and son of legendary mystery author Dick Francis, will be speaking and signing books in Falls Church on Tuesday, Oct. 14, and Thursday, Oct. 16, in promotion of the 50th Dick Francis novel, Dick Francis’ Damage.
Damage is the latest edition of the publishing legacy that dates back to 1962, when Dick Francis, a former royal champion British steeplechase jockey, published his first mystery Dead Cert.
At the time of his death in 2010, he was widely acclaimed as one of the world’s finest thriller writers. Felix has written the last nine Dick Francis novels, five of which he wrote in tandem with his father.
Felix will be appearing at the Tysons-Pimmit Library, located at 7584 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, next Tuesday starting at 11:45 a.m. Next Thursday he’ll be appearing at the Seven Corners Barnes & Noble, located at 6260 Seven Corners Center, Falls Church, starting at noon.
Along with book signings, Felix will be speaking about his father’s riding career and what it was like to grow up with such a prolific writer, including accompanying his father on visits for tea with Agatha Christie.
He’ll also talk about how he came to take over writing the Dick Francis novels after his father’s retirement, going on to write New York Times bestsellers.
