McLean 5K Invites People to ‘Run with the Warriors’

The Navy Marine Coast Guard Residence Foundation and Century 21 New Millennium are hosting the fourth annual “Run with the Warriors” 5K in McLean this Saturday, Oct. 4.

The race, held to benefit military veterans living in Wounded Warrior Transitional Housing at the Vinson Hall Retirement Community (VHRC), starts at 8 a.m. on Saturday; race-day registration begins at 6:45 a.m.

Wounded Warrior Transitional Housing at VHRC provides housing for wounded veterans who have been discharged from inpatient treatment as they go through the medical board process. The race will start at 6631 Old Dominion Dr., McLean.

General Norton A. Schwartz, who is retired from the U.S. Air Force, will be the speaker at this year’s run.

Beginning in 2011, the McLean 5K has raised over $143,000 for Wounded Warrior Transitional Housing at VHRC from race registration and corporate sponsorships.

Sponsors for this year’s run include Bank of Georgetown, Citi Bank, JBG, Navy Federal and VetFran. For more information, visit McLean5K.com.
