The City of Falls Church’s Chief Financial Officer Richard LaCondre told a meeting of the City Council’s Budget and Finance Committee Tuesday night that closing a $2 million gap between projected revenues and expenditures presents a daunting task for the coming budget year. While a $3 million surplus appeared in the June 30 fiscal year-end report LaCondre presented to the Council last week, most of that $3 million was anticipated and was deployed into the current fiscal year budget.

Perhaps the most disconcerting numbers in the year end report were the flat meals and sales tax ones, coming despite the efforts given to new commercial development in the City.
