Jody’s Jam of the Week: Bao Bao’s 1st Birthday Party

pandaAin’t no party like a panda bear party because a panda bear party is…well…it’s actually pretty rare. This weekend, the National Zoo is throwing a birthday soiree for its newest giant panda, Bao Bao, who is celebrating turning one year old on Saturday, August 23.

The panda shindig kicks off at 11 a.m. with a talk from zookeepers and then Bao Bao and mom, Mei Xiang, will feast on a specially-made frozen birthday cake at 11:30. And because it’s no fun watching someone else eat (even if it is a birthday panda), complimentary dandan noodles (a Sichaun specialty) and Bearitos snacks will be available to fill visitors’ bellies on a first-come, first-serve basis.

If you’re the tweeting type, the hashtag #BaoBaoBDay will be collecting the day’s festive online posts.
