Local Youth Swimmer Breaks Three Team Records in One Summer

Alissa Keegan, a resident of The Little City and member of the Poplar Heights Crush swim team, broke he third team record of the summer on Aug. 2 at the Northern Virginia Swim League (NVSL) All-Stars competition. Keegan placed third in the 100-meter individual medley with a 1:22.08 time, a new girls 10 and under team record. She also broke team records for girls ages 9-10 in the 25-meter butterfly and 50-meter freestyle earlier this summer and came in sixth place in the 50-meter freestyle at the NVSL All-Stars event. Other members of the Poplar Heights Crush swim team placed at the NVSL All-Stars competition as well.

Beth Cashin came in fourth place in the 50-meter breaststroke and sixth in the 50-meter freestyle events for girls ages 15-18. Theresa Neubig came in eighth place in the 50-meter breaststroke and 18th in the 100-meter individual medley for girls ages 15-18. Erin McFall came in eighth place in the 50-meter int he freestyle for girls ages 15-18. Ian Thompson placed tenth in the 50-meter breaststroke for boys ages 11-12 and Alex Epp placed 16th in the 50-meter backstroke for boys ages 15-18.
