Crime Report: Report of Burglary Draws Large Police Response on Parker Avenue

A heavy police presence in the 300 block of Parker Avenue last Wednesday was due to a search for a burglar who reportedly stole a television set from a residence, City of Falls Church Director of Communications Susan Finarelli told the News-Press.

The News-Press received multiple reports from City residents about the large police response last week, including one reader who said he saw “police out in force around TJ with long gun rifles.” The suspect in the July 23 incident is still at large.

In other F.C. Crime Report larceny news, a lawn decoration was stolen from a house on Parker Avenue, merchandise was stolen from CVS and a money bag was taken from Giant Food.

Alcohol related incidents included a drinking in public citation, a DUI, public drunkeness and an assault and battery together with public drunkeness at Lesly’s Restaurant on Hillwood Avenue.

City of Falls Church Crime Report: July 21 – 27, 2014

Larceny from Building, 1000 block Parker St. On July 21, police received a report that a lawn decoration was stolen.

Drinking In Public, 100 block S. Washington St. On July 22, a male, 47, no fixed address, was arrested and released on summons for Drinking In Public.

Driving Under the Influence, 700 block Hillwood Ave. On July 22, an officer responded to a single-vehicle accident. The driver, a male, 36, of Falls Church, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence.

Trespass, 6799 Wilson Blvd. (Eden Center) On July 23, a male, 57, no fixed address, was arrested and released on summons.

Residential Burglary, 300 block Parker Ave. On July 23, police responded to a residence where a suspect gained entry and attempted to steal property.

Larceny from Building, 1230 W. Broad St. (Giant Foods) On July 24, police received a report that a money bag was stolen.

Shoplifting, 134 W. Broad St. (CVS Pharmacy) On July 24, police received a report of merchandise stolen from the store.

Public Drunkenness, 200 block N. Maple Ave. On July 26, a female, 60, of Falls Church, was arrested for Public Drunkenness.

Assault & Battery and Public Drunkenness, 306 Hillwood Ave. (Lesly’s Restaurant) On July 27, a male, 60, of Alexandria, was arrested for Assault & Battery and Public Drunknness.
