F.C. Schools to Open Later in Fall

Beginning this fall, the school day will begin later for Falls Church Public Schools. The move came at the request of School Affiliate Organizations, including PTAs, concerned with Mary Ellen Henderson’s current 7:30 a.m. start time. Following a month long public survey gauging interest, and internal and external efficiency studies, the Board approved the change.

Starting in fall, preschool will begin at 7:45 a.m. drop off, with an 8:00 a.m. start. George Mason High classes will run from 8 a.m. – 2:55 p.m., Mary Ellen Henderson classes will run from 8:10 a.m. – 3:20 p.m. and Mt. Daniel and Thomas Jefferson Elementary Schools will from from 8:45 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.
