Herring, Korpe Suspend Campaigns, 8th District Dem Field Pared to 8

With the announcement today of their suspensions by two campaigns for the Democratic Party nomination to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Jim Moran, the field of contenders has been reduced to eight candidates vying for the June 10 primary nod. State Del. Charniele Herring announced late today that she was suspending her campaign and throwing her support for former Virginia Lt. Gov. Donald S. Beyer, Jr.

Earlier today, Alexandria businessman and activist Satish Korpe announced the suspension of his campaign.

In another development in the race today, State Del. Kaye Kory announced she’s supporting Arlington State Del. Patrick Hope for the nomination.

Also, last Thursday, Libertarian Party candidate Jeffrey Carson, a former U.S. Army captain, announced his campaign for the 8th District.
