The long-awaited Northgate of Falls Church mixed use project with 109 rental units and nine retail space celebrated a grand opening today with a ribbon cutting featuring F.C. Mayor David Tarter. The project is filling up fast, project officials said, primarily because of its proximity to the East Falls Church Metro. Over half the rental units are already committed, with a handful of new residents already moved in, and eight of the nine retail spaces have been leased.
The Hekemian Company, developers of the project, were a long time bringing the project to fruition on the location of the former Pearson’s Funeral Home on N. Washington St. (Rt. 29) near the City’s border with Arlington.
Among the dignitaries present today in addition to Mayor Tarter were City Manager Wyatt Shields, Council members Phil Duncan and Marybeth Connelly and Planning Commissioners Lindy Hockenberry and Ruth Rodgers.
