Stephen Erick, a third grade teacher at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, is recipient of the 2014 Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher of the Year award at Falls Church City Public Schools. Erick has taught both third and fourth grades at Thomas Jefferson.
Erick is in his fourth year with Falls Church City Public Schools, and his twelfth year as an educator. Previously he taught in Newport News, Virginia. A press release from F.C. schools today says Erick was enthusiastically nominated by parents of students, administrators and colleagues and TJ principal Bob Palermo praised Erick’s tireless work to ensure his students’ success. Assistant Principal Mary Kay Howard noted Erick’s excellent relationships with parents, treating them as partners in the education process, as well as his consistent collaboration with colleagues.
As the 2014 FCCPS Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher of the Year, Erick will be honored at two receptions in May; one at The Washington Post to honor the winners from local school divisions, and another to recognize all FCCPS nominees for the award.
