F.C. Recycling Extravaganza Offers Environmentally-Friendly Spring Cleaning

The City of Falls Church Public Works Department will host its Recycling Extravaganza on Saturday, April 26, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Property Yard and Recycling Center, 217 Gordon Road.

City residents may recycle a variety of items including used electronics, cell phones, clothing and textiles, sewing machines, bicycles, printer cartridges, eyeglasses, hearing aids, and medical supplies like crutches. All items will be recycled, reused, or donated to charity.

Paper shredding will also be available, courtesy Shred-It. Residents may bring up to three boxes, no bigger than 2’ x 2’ x 2’. Binders, clips, and metal should be removed from paper boxes.

The City’s Police Department will be holding its Prescription Drug Take-Back initiative in conjunction with the Extravaganza. Residents may bring their unused and expired prescription pills for drop-off to the police at the event.

For a complete list of acceptable items and what happens to each item after donation, visit fallschurchva.gov/RE.

To drop off materials, residents should turn onto Gordon Road from W. Broad Street. Volunteers will remove items from the car; there is no need for residents to get out of their cars.

Volunteers are also needed to sort clothing, inventory bikes, direct traffic, and more.

For additional information or to volunteer, contact Allison Lohrenz at recycling2@fallschurchva.gov or 703-248-5456.
