Hope Files, Sickles Drops Out of 8th District Race

Virginia State Del. Patrick Hope (Arlington) announced the formal filing for his campaign was achieved Monday for the Democratic Primary nomination for the 8th U.S. Congressional District seat being vacated by Rep. Jim Moran. But another of the announced candidates has dropped out.

State Del. Mark Sickles (Franconia) issued a statement late Wednesday that he’s decided not to run, based on a review of an in-house poll of likely Democratic voters in the district. There are now 10 candidates still intending to run. Hope announced Monday that he’d filed the necessary paperwork and petitions to secure his name on the June 10 primary ballot.
