10 MEH Students Play in All-District Band

Ten Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School band students participated in the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association All-District event this past weekend at Hayfield Secondary School.

The MEH musicians were Sam Updike and Nathan Sperry on horn; Selwyn Heminway on trombone; Rachel Kang, Lauren Ford, and Yael Cohen on clarinet; Griffin Warner, Christian Autor, and Estelle Timar-Wilcox on trumpet; and Cindy Lay on bassoon.

These 10 students performed a rigorous audition to be selected for the honor. They spent an entire weekend making music with other selected students in Northern Virginia, culminating in a concert on Saturday afternoon.
