Falls Church House Fire Friday

A four-story house in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County is a complete loss after a house fire broke out in the early morning last Friday.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to the home at 2142 Haycock Road at around 3:15 a.m. on Friday, December 20, a release reports. Firefighters encountered heavy fire and smoke coming from the entire roof of the four-story home upon arrival and the department’s Incident Commander requested a second alarm bringing approximately 60 firefighters to the scene, including Arlington County. When major portions of the burning roof structure collapsed into the yard, firefighters assumed a defensive posture to fight the fire.

It took firefighters more than an hour to extinguish the fire. The recently constructed home was for sale and vacant. There were no injuries.

The home is a complete loss.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
