Formerly called Santa Jam, the annual State Theatre Winter SOULstice Benefit Concert and Toy Drive returns this Saturday, Dec. 21.
Concert-goers can take part in a raffle and hear a performance by a 10-piece ’70s tribute band, the Right On Band. The group has played such notable events as President Barack Obama’s Inaugural Ball and has opened for acts like The Doobie Brothers, Hall and Oates, and The Village People.
Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 9 p.m.
Tickets to the show are $10, and proceeds benefit Children’s National Hospital. Toys will be collected at the concert in lieu of admission, as well; all toys collected will be donated to the hospital’s Dr. Bear’s Toy Closet, a room filled with donated toys, games, and books that provides items to thousands of patients in Children’s play rooms, waiting rooms, inpatient units, ambulances, Emergency Department, and Regional Outpatient Centers.
Toys must be new to meet the hospital’s infection control requirements, meet consumer product safety codes, and include only non-toxic materials.
The State Theatre is located at 220 N. Washington St., Falls Church. For more information, visit thestatetheatre.com.
