Obenshain to Ask for Recount in A.G. Race

With the Virginia State Board of Elections having officially declared Democrat State Sen. Mark Herring the winner in the race for state attorney general this month, the loser, Republican State Sen. Mark Obenshain, announced yesterday that his campaign will formally seek a recount of the votes in the race.

The State Board of Elections declared Herring the winner by the razor-thin margin of 165 votes out of more than 2.2 million total votes cast, marking it as the closest statewide race in modern Virginia history.
