TJ ‘Brick Beast’ Team Wins FLL Judges Award

Brick Beast team members James Trombo, Dmitri Modell, Jonathan Oppenheimer, Alec Autor, Daniel Trauberman, and Chris Goodwin won a special Judges Award at the regional FIRST Lego League tournament last Saturday, Nov. 16, at George Mason University. The team, consisting of fifth graders from Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, competed among 22 teams in its division.

The judges recognized the team members for their overall performance in robotics design, programming, and performance; their original research project about Tsunamis; and their teamwork, professionalism, and sportsmanlike conduct. This was the team’s second year participating in FLL.

For their overall performance, Brick Beasts were selected to represent Northern Virginia at the FLL State tournament to be held the weekend of Dec. 7 – 8 at James Madison University.

Parents Amy Trombo, Jonathan Modell, and Ari Autor coached the team this season.
