This year’s Veterans Day Ceremony, held Monday morning at the Falls Church City Veterans Memorial in front of the Community Center, included remembrances for three recently departed champions of veterans issues locally – Walter Mess, Tony Scerbo, and Ed Strait. The keynote speaker at the ceremony was Mary Tamaki Murakami, who was forced into an internment camp during World War II. The ceremony also featured performances by the Falls Church City Concert Band, a tribute for those missing in action, and a wreath presentation and prayer for departed veterans.
