James Longo, Jr., 37, Dies of Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound

The News-Press has confirmed the identity of James Longo, Jr., age 37, as the victim of the self-inflicted gunshot wound reported by Falls Church Police that occurred about 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21. Longo was a 1994 graduate of Falls Church’s George Mason High School and was in the home of his parents, Noel and James A Longo, on S. West Street in Falls Church at the time of the incident.

According to the website of Murphy’s Funeral Home in Falls Church, “Relatives and friends will be received at Murphy Funeral Home, 1102 W. Broad St., Falls Church, VA from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25.His Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, Aug. 26 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 3304 N. Washington Blvd., Arlington, VA. Interment will be in the St. James Catholic Cemetery, Falls Church, VA. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Greater Springfield Volunteer Fire Department (GSVFD) Canteen would be appreciated. Please indicate CERT in the memo line of the check.”
