F.C. Recycling Extravaganza Set for Sept. 7

The City of Falls Church Public Works Department will host its Recycling Extravaganza on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the City’s Recycling Center, located at 217 Gordon Road.

City residents may recycle a variety of items including computers, cell phones, used clothing and textiles, bicycles, bicycle tires and tubes, sewing machines, printer cartridges, eyeglasses, hearing aids, and medical supplies like crutches, or wheelchairs. All items will be recycled, reused, or donated to charity.

Paper shredding will also be available, courtesy of TrueShred; residents may bring up to three boxes, no bigger than 2’ x 2’ x 2’. Electronics recycling will be provided by eAsset Solutions.

To access the event, residents should turn onto Gordon Road from Broad Street, where they will be directed through the queue. Volunteers will remove items directly from cars. Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks, including clothing and textiles sorting and bagging, bicycle repair and inventory, traffic direction, and cardboard breakdown.
