FXFRD to Offer Citizens Free Fire & Rescue Academy

Residents can learn more about the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department by participating in its free Citizens Fire and Rescue Academy. Applications to the program will be accepted until Aug. 23 or until the class of 25 is filled.

The academy will begin Sept. 19 and will meet for nine consecutive weeks, from 6 – 9 p.m., at various locations in and outside the Fire and Rescue Department. Each session will cover different aspects of the organization, providing an in-depth overview of the department and its uniformed and civilian workforce. Program topics include fire suppression, emergency medical services, training, recruitment, special operations, and more.

Those interested in signing up who are at least 18 years of age may apply online at fairfaxcounty.gov/fr/cfa.
