City of Falls Church, VA Crime Report for May 20 – 26, 2013

Larceny from Building, 600 block Roosevelt Blvd. On May 20, police received a report that an unknown suspect(s) stole aluminum from a dumpster. The reported event occurred on May 19.

Public Drunkenness, 370 W. Broad St. (Famous Dave’s) On May 20, a male, 51, of the City of Falls Church was arrested for Public Drunkenness.

Driving Under the Influence, 100 block E. Broad St. On May 21, an officer conducted a traffic stop for a motor vehicle violation. The driver, a male, 38, of Washington, DC, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence.

Noise Violation, 300 block W. Broad St. On May 21, a male, 32, of Falls Church, was arrested and released on summons for a Noise Ordinance Violation.

Public Drunkenness, 300 Park Ave. (Falls Church General District Court) On May 22, a male, 50, of Falls Church, was arrested for Public Drunkenness.

Public Drunkenness, 100 block S. Washington St. On May 22, a male, 46, no fixed address, was arrested for Public Drunkenness.

Motor Vehicle and Motor Vehicle Parts, 700 block Highland Ave. On May 13, an unknown suspect(s) stole four tires and cash from an unlocked vehicle sometime between May 1 and 13.

Driving Under the Influence, 1000 block E. Broad St. On May 22, an officer conducted a traffic stop for a motor vehicle violation. The driver, a male, 36, of Falls Church, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence.

Underage Possession of Alcohol and Public Drunkenness, 400 block Park Ave. On May 23, a male, 18, of Falls Church, was arrested for Public Drunkenness and Underage Possession of Alcohol.

Attempted Abduction and Public Drunkenness, 200 block S. Washington St. On May 23, a woman had been walking through the area with her young son who was a few steps beside her and playing with sticks. As they continued through the area, the suspect, moved towards the child as the child came nearer to the suspect and his possessions. At that time an unknown bystander intervened to stop Burkel from getting closer to the child. Police apprehended the suspect who smelled strongly of alcohol and displayed other signs of intoxication at the scene. Douglas Burkel, 46, no fixed address, was arrested for Attempted Abduction and Public Drunkenness.

Driving Under the Influence, Refusal to Submit to Blood or Breath Test, and Narcotics Violation On May 23, a female, 23, of Alexandria, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence, Refusal to Submit to Blood or Breath Test, and Possession of Marijuana.

Driving Under the Influence and Public Drunkenness, 6800 block Lee Highway On May 24, a male, 44, of Manassas, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence. A female, 39, of Manassas, was arrested for Public Drunkenness.

Domestic Assault, 300 block James St. On May 24, a male, 83, of the City of Falls Church, was arrested for Assaulting a Family Member.

Larceny of Motor Vehicle Parts, 105 Falls Ave. (Curry’s Auto) On May 24, police received a report of vehicle license plates stolen from a vehicle.

Larceny from Building, 1000 E. Broad St. (24 Hour Fitness) On May 26, an unknown suspect(s) stole a backpack and wallet from an unlocked locker.

Public Drunkenness, 400 block Roosevelt Blvd. On May 26, a male, III, 28, of Laurel, MD, was arrested Public Drunkenness.
