F.C. Residents Recycle 20+ Tons at Spring Extravaganza

This spring’s Recycling Extravaganza saw more than 500 vehicles stop by the City of Falls Church Property Yard and Recycling Center to offload items. The totals of items collected at the April 27 event include 28,400 pounds of electronic goods, 11,400 pounds of documents shredded, 1,500 pounds of clothing and fabric, 50 pounds of batteries, 58 bikes, and more than 200 pairs of eyeglasses.

The City also hosted another recycling effort on April 27 with Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. Over 192 pounds of unwanted or expired medication were turned over to the City of Falls Church Police Department, which hosted the event along with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. With the assistance of the Falls Church Sheriff’s Office and the H.E.A.T. Program, the Police Department also VIN etched 19 cars and registered more than a dozen bicycles at this event.
