F.C. Centenarian Dorothy Bullion Dies at Age 102

309obit2Dorothy M. Bullion, 102, of Falls Church, passed away on Sunday, April 21, at her home. Born in Stark, New York, she came to this area from Palm Harbor, Florida, in 2004 to live with her daughter.

Dorothy was a registered nurse before becoming a mother. While raising her children, she owned and operated Dot’s Exchange in Delmar, New York, until retiring in 1965. She was very active in the Eastern Star in New York. She volunteered with Welcome Newcomers and the Palm Harbor Library in Florida. In Falls Church, she was an active member of Graham Road United Methodist Church, Over 55 Club, and the Falls Church Senior Center. She had a very magnetic personality; she always wanted to help others and meet new people.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Bullion, and her son, Kenneth M. Hopkins. Survivors include her son, Edward P. Hopkins (Rose) of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; daughter, Roberta L. Hopkins (Robert Brandenburg) of Falls Church; sister, Beatrice Waller of Dunedin, Florida; granddaughters, Kimberley LaBadia (Steve) of Central Bridge, New York, and Tracy Taylor (Mark) of Charlotte, North Carolina; three great-granddaughters; four great-great grandsons; two nieces; and two nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Graham Road United Methodist Church on Thursday, April 25, at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Capital Caring Hospice, 950 N. Glebe Road, Arlington, Virginia 22203.
