Lincoln Park Re-Do Begins April 1

A new playground will be installed in the City of Falls Church’s Lincoln Park (Lincoln Ave. and Great Falls St.) in April, replacing equipment that was damaged in a car accident last summer. Construction is set to begin on Monday, April 1.

For the safety of visitors, the park will be closed throughout construction, which should be complete by May 4. Cunningham Recreation will remove the existing playground equipment and install new equipment that is ADA compliant. The new equipment will be themed with natural-looking elements, including a tree fort with slides and mushrooms to hop across. Many other amenities in the park, including benches and tables, will also be replaced.

The City Council gave consent for the equipment replacement on February 11, 2013. The contract amount is for $181,337.26. The project is funded by the insurance payment from the accident and the existing park improvements budget for Fiscal Year 2013.
