Forum to Discuss Population Growth’s Impact on F.C. Schools

The League of Women Voters of Falls Church will sponsor a community forum on the impact of population growth on the Falls Church City schools on Wednesday March 20. Speakers will include Dr. Toni Jones, superintendent of the Falls Church Public Schools and Susan Kearney, chairman of the Falls Church School Board.

Twenty-five percent of the city’s population is under the age of 18, but the city also includes a diverse group of seniors, empty nesters and single persons. The forum will discuss how the city can best serve all of these groups while maintaining its award-winning school system. Panel members will review recent student population growth and its sources, and the impact of this growth on the community, the city’s budget, tax and development policies.

The forum will be held from 7:30 – 9 p.m. in City Council Chambers at City Hall, 300 Park Ave., Falls Church. For more information, visit lwvfallschurch.org.
