City of F.C. & Partners to Offer Rain Barrel Workshops & Sales

The City of Falls Church and its partners – the Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District, Arlington County, Arlingtonians for a Clean Environment, and the City of Alexandria – invite the public to register for build-your-own rain barrel workshops and rain barrel distribution events.

Rain barrels can be attached to downspouts to capture runoff from the roof, which can be reused for tasks such as watering plants.

The first workshop is next Saturday, March 23, from 10 a.m. – noon at Green Acres Community Center, 4401 Sideburn Road, Fairfax. Another workshop is scheduled for Sunday, May 5, from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. at Temple Rodef Shalom, 2100 Westmoreland St., Falls Church. A third is scheduled for Saturday, May 18, from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Walker Nature Education Center, 11450 Glade Drive, Reston.

Rain barrel distribution events are scheduled for Sunday, April 21, from noon – 4:30 p.m. at the Earth Week Fair and Green Living Expo on George Mason University’s Arlington Campus at Founders Hall, 3351 Fairfax Drive, Arlington, and on Saturday, May 4, from 1 – 4 p.m. at the City of Falls Church Property Yard, 7100 Gordon Road, Falls Church.
