Both the George Mason High School boys and girls swim teams finished their regular season undefeated last Saturday.

In a tri-meet, the girls won over Strasburg High School 78-19 and Manassas Park High School 80-17, while the boys won over Strasburg 78-19 and Manassas Park 78-18. Mason Assistant Principal Ken Siekman was there to catch part of the meet and Falls Church City Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones also came to watch most of the 24 events. The talent and numbers of swimmers Mason has participating impressed them and all the friends and family there to cheer Mason on.

The Mason 200-yard medley relay teams kicked off the meet in all new configurations, but still had 1-2 finishes for both the boys and girls. The meet progressed with Mason finishing first in all but one event. There was also a new record set for Mason, as freshman Erin McFall dropped her time in 100-yard backstroke to 1:04.53 from her previous best time by over a second.

The teams will scale back now from well over 70 to just over 30 swimmers for the post-season Single A tournament in Bristol this coming weekend. The group will leave mid-day Friday to travel over 350 miles to compete against Single A schools from all over the state. The following weekend, the teams will travel to Manassas Park Community Center for the Bull Run District Meet on Feb. 2.
